IMPACT STORIES - EDUCATION

Stalwart has always strived to support grassroots initiatives that help communities build better education systems. This year we have partnered with Maanushi Foundation to deliver Reproductive Health Awareness classes and distribute reusable cloth pad kits for adolescent girls from underserved rural areas. This project aims to create body literacy, encourage sustainable menstrual practices to minimize plastic waste and build reproductive rights awareness. Here are some glimpses from the classes.

INSIGHTS FROM STALWART

We live in an era where smart sunglasses can detect our private information using AI tools that are available in the public domain. Projects like I-XRAY—where two Harvard students turned Meta’s smart glasses into surveillance tools—demonstrate how easily technology can breach privacy boundaries. This experiment is also a powerful reminder on staying vigilant in the online space as we use digital technology in every aspect of our daily lives.

As the digital landscape gets the boost from AI, it is all the more important to stay guarded against privacy violations. In this article, we would like to cover a few practical tips with which you can protect yourself from the unprecedented privacy violations and threats online.

  • Manage your digital footprint by opting out of facial recognition databases and other auto captured data. You can use tools like Pimeyes and Facecheck.id to search where your images are used online and remove them from unauthorised platforms. You can also check your browser settings to see if there are any unrecognised sites using your data.
  • Regularly audit your social media accounts and limit what personal data is shared publicly. You could also incorporate a built-in opt-out feature on your web browser, such as Global Privacy Control, that automatically blocks third-party cookies and prevents the sale of user data, eliminating the need for individuals to manually opt out via checkboxes.
  • Be aware of phishing emails and always cross-check the email ids or phone numbers from which you receive alarming messages that ask personal details or invite you to click on links.
  • Avoid using unsecured wi-fi networks for secure transactions, like banking or online shopping or use a VPN.
  • Stay informed about the latest AI developments and take online courses or certifications in AI, data science, or digital literacy to stay competitive in a technology-driven world.

Thank you.
